Houston covered us in that thick humid air, but some great skating by up and comers anyway.  Thanks to Bill and everyone that made this possible.

Barry and crew put on another good night of music for everyone to session to!  Crime Wave played first and were great punk rock.  Next up was the Fun Boys with a Screamers 70's type punk sound featuring a keyboard - good stuff.  Last up was Disfrutalos with a cool eclectic jam style.  Great for a night of music filled skating.  Maybe i'll get some pool pics nest time instead of skating...

Some serious 80's skating on the kahuna metal ramp at the Skatepark of Houston.  What a line up with pros like Hosoi, Hawk, Caballero, Kasai, Craig Johnson, Blender, Mountain, McGill, Magnusson, Art Godoy, Steadham and more.   Phillips was there and of course I took pictures of him, but will have to dig deeper for some photos - many bundles not labled and these I found loose in a box.  I think this was one of the first events I photographed and it was great to be able to show all the locals in my shop how rad these guys were.

The legendary ramp was re-incarnated by Lou via some great painting work on the vert at Eisenbergs.  Tony Goza from SoundCreationsonline.com provided some killer tunes from 80's Punk Rock Clown days for an authentic soundtrack to the action.  Lot's of full on Texas Style raging by Clown locals back in the day and new rippers with some young guns coming to further the Texas vert tradition. Skaters like Mike Crum, Dana Buck, Gary Morris, Jeremy Smith, Lou Statman, Adam Wiggins, Ben Johnson, Pat Sherman, John Lytle, Bryan Saremslani and more kept the action and urethane flowing.  Legends Craig Johnson, John Gibson, Todd Prince and more came out to hang out and sign some cool relics(Shots courtesy of txpunk.net).

This event is a tradition in Houston at a killer ditch that's been around for decades feeling the urethane of skaters for generations.  Lloyd and Carol at Surfhouse have been putting these on for years. Pinks Pizza, the guys at Cockfight (Mike, Dave, Kevin) along with a impromptu set by Molotov Compromise and friends made for some Texas size skate fun.

Photos are from practice and competition no exact order.  Some great skating to witness by Pros, Legends, Ladies and locals.  Some of the skaters are Lance Mountain, Bryan Pennington, Ken Fillion, Lester Kasai, Glen Charnoski, Chris Gentry, Bucky Lasek, Troy Chason, Sergie Ventura, Todd Prince, Kevin Kowalski, Carabeth, Mimi Knoop, Jeremy Smith, Sky Siljeg, Lance Childers, Ben Johnson, Steve & Jaun Pineiro, Zach Miller and more.

More shots by Alex Gregg

Shots of Mike smith, Henry Gutierrez, Texans - Troy Chason & Ken Fillion doubles and Lou Statman, Eddie Reategui, Eric Grisham, Salba and more. The sequence of Duane Peters and Ken Fillion landing almost on top of each other and making it is insane.  These are all cool frame grabs taken from the dvd footage.  A little less clear than actual photos, but still some great action to check out.

All the series will be in this section.

Skate & Rock 3 June 2010

Skate & Rock 2 May 2010

We had to leave to see/cover the MDC show at Walters, so we missed the second band Unzipped who replaced Molotov Compromise.  If you get a chance to see them they are great.

Skate & Rock 1 April 2010

Check out the skate video montage on the video page.
